Admissions
St. Albans
Qualified applicants are students who are excited and engaged in the learning process, are working at or above their current grade level, have good citizenship and behavior, and have shown their ability to perform well academically. Additionally, children applying to either the Pre-Kindergarten or Kindergarten programs must be 4 years of age (Pre-K) or 5 years of age (Kindergarten) as of September 1.
As openings occur, students are invited to visit their prospective class for a day as well as completing the basic battery of the Stanford 10 Achievement test (grades 1-8). Parents are asked for copies of past report cards and standardized tests, too. While visiting, students fully participate in all classes, they complete the assigned work, and teachers administer skill based screenings. After the visitation is complete, teachers give feedback, including observations about their interactions with others, work habits, and willingness to participate in classes. The Stanford 10 Achievement test is administered on a separate day and the testing time varies by grade level.
