SAPA Fund Raising
“Pleasures of the Palate” is an annual event held in the spring. This event of gourmet food, wine tasting, and silent and live auctions provides SAPA with its greatest source of funds. Each family is requested to purchase two tickets to this gala and to also provide a donation of goods or services with a minimal value of $50.00.
SCRIP is the second largest source of SAPA funds. It is a program of gift certificates provided by various retailers, restaurants, and other vendors. SAPA purchases these certificates in volume at a discounted price and then resells them at face value. SCRIP is then used as if it were cash. At Raley’s and Bel Air parents can use their Quality of Life cards which are scanned by the cashier during each transaction, and the school receives a percentage of the purchase. E-SCRIP is also another way to help out the school by purchasing online from a large roster of well-known vendors. SCRIP order forms and e-scrip information are sent home on a regular basis with Tuesday News.
The Gift-Wrap and Cookie Dough fundraiser is offered in the fall. This fundraiser is SAPA’s third greatest source of revenue, with the highest percentage of profit going to the eighth grade to finance their end-of-the-year trip to Yosemite. All other classes benefit with the profit above that which is needed for the Yosemite trip.
The Magazine Drive is also held in the fall, and it ranks a close fourth in SAPA fundraisers. A new or renewed subscription of magazines provides the buyer with reading material purchased at the lowest price available, and by purchasing in volume, St. Albans makes fifty percent of the sales.
