Daily Life at St. Albans

School Hours

  • School begins at 8:15 a.m. (classrooms open at 8:00 a.m.)
  • Dismissal times
    Pre-K: 12:15
    Kindergarten: 12:15 through mid-October. 1:30 remainder of year.
    Grades 1-8: 3:00
  • Early dismissal occurs on the first Friday of each month at 1:30 p.m. grades 1-8.
  • Students not picked up during the 15 minute supervised dismissal time at the end of the day will be sent to day care.

Extended Day Care

Extended care is available daily:

  • Morning: beginning at 7:00 a.m.
  • Afternoon: until 6:00 p.m.
  • No reservation is required

Day Care Rates 2026-2027: $9 per hour (youngest child), $8.50 per hour (each additional child)

Drop-Off & Pick-Up

Detailed procedures can be found in the Student-Parent Handbook. Consistent routines help ensure a safe and efficient experience for all students.

If using the circle, please note the following

  • Parents stay in the car
  • Student should enter or exit from the curb side of the car
  • Please pull all the way forward and fill any open space before having child enter/exit the car.
  • Please don’t stop near the oak tree to allow older students to be “closer to their classroom.” Pulling forward and asking your child to walk a little further goes a long way to help the circle move smoothly.
  • If your child needs assistance entering or exiting the car, please park in a designated parking space that will allow you time and safety to assist your child.
  • For the safety of all students our drop-off and pick-up circles are a CELL PHONE FREE ZONE.

After School Pick-up

Supervised afternoon pick-up occurs for 15 minutes after the end of the school day in the circle and near Taber Center. Students that are not picked up at the end of the 15 minutes will be sent to day care.

Students who know they are going to Day Care after school will proceed immediately to Day Care.

Lunch & Snacks

Parents may send a lunch from home or use our lunch partner Lunchlink to order restaurant delivered meals to school. LunchLink offers families flexibility and convenience. Below are a few benefits of the LunchLink program.

Pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students who attend Day Care after dismissal may purchase lunches from Lunchlink and they will be delivered to Day Care.

  • You can place orders up until 1 PM the day before delivery.
  • You can order up to 60 days in advance.
  • You can cancel up until 8 AM the day of delivery.
  • Order daily, weekly, or occasionally – whatever best suits your needs, budget, and taste.
  • Lunches are individually prepared and delivered fresh each day.

We offer an on-campus snack bar Tuesday through Friday during morning recess for students in grades 1–8. Students are welcome to bring money to purchase snacks, with most items priced under $1.00. We encourage families to send small monetary denominations, as teachers are not able to store or keep track of snack bar money.

All students are encouraged to eat a snack during morning recess.
